Sure, learn by doing is good. However, to minimize the time needed and optimize the process, a little knowledge and basic theory would be good. To master something, one must master the basic principles first. Some bloggers failed to make money online and give up because they skipped the basic principles of making money online.
Today I will tell you the basics of “How To Make Money Online As A Blogger“. There are a lot of methods to make money online out there, but now I will tell you three most common ways to make money online as a blogger.
1. Displaying Advertisement
Basically, advertiser pay you some money to display their ads on your site pages. You can sell independent ads (self-contract ads) or you can use third-party programs to helps you connect with advertisers. The biggest third-party program is still Google AdSense. There are pros and cons regarding self-contract ads and using third-party programs.
Self-Contract Ads is a process where advertiser contact the blog owner (usually by email or through contact form) to ask him/her to put a link or banner for some money. The price depends on negotiation. Blog with high Pagerank and Alexa Ranking maybe worth higher. This method is absolutely done by the blogger himself by promoting his/her blog in blog forums.
Pros: You decide the price yourself. No one will ban your account. You create your own terms and policies.
Cons: It’s harder to get advertisers (you need to be proactive). You maintain all of the ads yourself.
Third-party pay per click (PPC) program is an Internet advertising model used on websites, in which advertisers pay their host only when their ad is clicked. With search engines, advertisers typically bid on keyword phrases relevant to their target market. Content sites commonly charge a fixed price per click rather than use a bidding system, except for Google AdSense, which they are using bidding system. Basically, you get paid whenever somebody clicks on your ads, and the price depends on the bid.
Pros: Easier to get lots of ads. You don’t need to manage almost anything. Almost everything is automated.
Cons: You must agree to their terms and policies. You can get your account banned. You share your revenues with the broker.
WARNING: Many webmasters has been banned from Google AdSense because they violated their terms and policies. Google are very strict with their terms and policies.
2. Write Review
Basically, you get paid for writing a review for a website or a product and then publish it to your blog. The aim for the advertiser is to gain recognition of their website or product by promoting it through your blog post. Most of this method is managed by third-party program like Sponsored Reviews but you can also do it independently.
The price of each review depends on a few aspects, which is:
- The number of visitor of your blog (the bigger the higher the price).
- Length of post (the longer the more expensive)
- How many links inserted on the review (more links means more expensive).
Blogs with high traffic and lots of subscribers would likely to be offered to do some reviews. So you better working on these things.
3. Affiliate Program
A simple way to explain affiliate program is, if you get people to buy something from another person, you will get commission from that person. For example, if I promote a product sold by Amazon through my website and somebody buy that product through my affiliate link/page, I will get a commission from Amazon for helping them selling out their products.
Among others method I’ve shared with you, affiliate program are the hardest, because you need persuade people to buy products. However, for each transaction, you can get up to 15% of the amount of the transaction. So, if you are good at persuading people to buy something, this is the best method for you.
Actually, there are other methods to make money online, but these three are the most common and the simplest way. More advanced methods will be posted on the future. Stay tuned.
